Cosmopolis

The only other film I watched of David Cronenberg's is The Fly.  I refused to watch any more of his films after that because I just found it gross.  Until, Cosmopolis.  I found it to be very entertaining and superbly acted by Robert Pattinson.  I didn't understand why people were walking out of this film.  To me, its not about finance.  Its about a man who is trying in any way to make emotional connections with people, his job just happens to be in the financial world.

Have you seen Cosmopolis and what did you think of it?

  1. I LOVED IT TOO! I think Robert Pattinson did a great job with the material. I have no doubt that he will go far in HW.

  2. Well, I failed ya'll. I didn't love it. I thought it was ok, but I fwded a lot of it because I got bored. Yes, I am a fan of most of the actors and the script was well written, but transitions were awkward and "huh???" Also, we didn't know anyting of Benno until the end. In the book the transitions are complete and make sense and we get chapters of Benno.

I thought Sarah did a great job with her role, but I missed the scene between her and Eric in the alley. I thought that was an important moment for Eric in the book. He finally got what he wanted: not necessarily a sexual relationship with his wife, but feeling he had a connection with her.

I also thought Rob did a very good job with his role, despite the role being very unemotional. However, I wasn't blown away like most.

I finished the film kinda...meh. I look forward to seeing him in other work.

  3. Have any of u seen "Arbitrage" with Richard Gere? I saw it the other night. After watching "Arbitrage" I got a new found appreciation for Cosmopolis. Cosmo was far more original and poetic not something u see everyday. Richard Gere was good but I've seen this film before.
